Stock Cam
Re: Stock Cam
TJ, where in Wisconsin? I am in New London I have the ZZ3/ZZ4 cam in my Caprice and would consider it the absolute smallest worth the effort to swap too and will be going bigger this winter. It was great in the heavy Caprice when it was a daily driver it can now take a turn more for the toy end of things so I am willing to compromise drivability. I have been messing with the LT1 a few years now and made a lot of mistakes and poor decisions along the way. If you are nearby and I can help you do things right the first time by sharing my mistakes I would be glad to, would be nice to see another LT1 car at WIR too.

Re: Stock Cam
I'm in Racine. And I would love any help that I can get, cause, like you siad, mistakes are expensive!! And I don't have the money it takes to make them. (then again do any of us??
) I'm not sure where exactly New London is, but Racine is in SE wisconsin, right south of Milwaukee. If its possible, meeting up to do some LT1 work, and talk would be cool.
P.S. That spec sheet was what I was looking for. Cool
So say I went to roughly a 540 lift cam. Significant difference, correct? but is it streetable? Will it work with stck stuff?

Re: Stock Cam
I was in racine yesterday visiting a couple of friends with b-bodies one lives on 11 theother further in town and is actually a deputy down there. I am up west of Appleton if that gives you a clue.
So what cam did you pick?

Re: Stock Cam
okay, yeah, i know appleton. Does your buddy live by Menards and Ben Franklin on 11?? I think I know who you're talking about.
But, anyway, I haven't picked one yet. I was wondering about the Comp cams available on Combonation motorsports. http://www.cmotorsports.com/93-97-fb...gine-camshafts I was thinking either the 221/227 or the 224/230. Are either of these a significant increase? Are they too agressive for daily driving? ( I care more about performance than mileage, so not a lot of worry, just don't want 5 MPG
) Can all of the cams here be used on a stock motor/ stock heads? and, anyone from SE Wisconsin, will the car still pass emissions with that big of a cam? Any knowledge would be helpful. Thanks.

Re: Stock Cam
Friend lives just about a mile off the interstate doesn't have an f-body but rather a d-body which is the Fleetwood which is an LT1 car and a Caprice, there are actually two other guys in racine I know one with a T56ed Roadmaster wagon YES you read that right and a 9C1 and another with a civilian Caprice and a 9C1. Know another guy in Muskego with an Impala and one in Milwaukee and a few more I have not met yet but are in SE WI who I run into on the b-body forums.
As far as the cam goes drivability is very subjective and well I don't have to deal with emmisions so I am not sure what you can make pass other than I know good cats can make a world of difference. I am very sure the cam I have is smaller than you would want put it this way was fine for towing with 2.93s and before the headers the manifolds and cats tamed it enough to sound stock.
You might consider contacting madz28.com Ion lives down near Chicago so he would be a natural choice for the tuning, ask him what he can make pass.
We should have a big LT1 gathering at GLD or WIR this spring, other than my two I have only seen four other LT1s at WIR.

Re: Stock Cam
Cool, keep in touch about an LT1 gathering.
http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...f9ae6bef6ef900 This one looks good, considering I have headers, exhaust, and am getting a Madz28 tune.
