Until you have to replace either. It only costs about $330 to have the street twin rebuilt compared to the cost of a new Spec Stage 4.

I've had two Mcleod single disc clutch's, they both lasted around 8 months on a bolt on car, mainly driven on the highway. Both had springs on the disc break. Oddly I replaced the second one with a $200 O'reillys clutch over a year ago with no issues so far..

Wow, that's the first case of a McLeod single disc failure I've heard of. I beat the **** out of mine (bolt on car) and put well over 100 dragstrip passes in addition to about 25K miles of hard street miles on it without a problem.

I guess sometimes you luck out, and other times you dont. I had my clutch on for over a year now, quite a few drag strip passes, and driven aggressivly on the street. My car is bolt ons with cam, and all strip runs were made with DRs or ET streets. By the way, its only a spec stage 2!

No, I'm not saying destroy, but just wear out. Eventually it will wear out, and in the long run the Street Twin will be cheaper.

Actually I bought both of them through MTI. After the second failure I went in to their shop to ask why these clutches couldnt hold up to a mostly stock LT1, they claimed they had so many issues with Mcleod Clutches they had stopped carrying them and switched to Spec(I believe it was). They told me to either buy a Spec clutch from them or try and take it up with Mcleod, they gave me Mcleods number and that was the end of their help. I admit they were busy, but I still felt they didnt appreciate my business.

SPEC STAGE 3
Don't mean to sound so biased on these SPEC clutches... but I'm just so frustraited at this point.

Like what was said earlier, I think its a matter of luck. I had two Mcleod Clutches last me 8 months a peice on a bolt on car, and then on the other hand I have a friend that had no issues with his after two years on a H/C LS1.

Re: Still want a SPEC???

Thats what it seems like, just that you hear more Spec complaints cuz when it comes to single disk clutches, I think most of the people use Spec clutches, hence when a clutch breaks, chances are it was a Spec, but it appears that when others use other brands they have failures too when it comes to single disk performance clutches, except there isn't many people using other brands so the complaints are not on such a massive scale.

Spec will rebuild your clutch also.. Just an FYI for those "out of the know" .

The above is quite possible. As I said though, the Street Twin is awesome.

Me too...about 50 1/4 passes and 30,000 miles later it's still going strong!
