Still trying to figure out my hesitation

For a long time now I have been trying to figure out the hesitation I have had. It only hesitates under 2500 rpm's While driving. Can my maf be the cause. Is there a way to check it? It idles fine and reves up good with or with out being connected.

Re: Still trying to figure out my hesitation

A failed MAF would set a code, causing the PCM to default to speed-density.

If you want to check the sensor, first verify that you have 12V on the pink wire in the harness connector with the key on, when measured to the black/white ground wire. Next check to make sure the MAF sensor is facing in the correct direction. Then at idle, use a multi-meter with a frequency (Hz) scale and measure the frequency between the yellow signal wire and the black/white ground wire. Should be in the range of 2,200 - 2,800 Hz. Should increase as the throttle opens.

Alternatively, if you have access to scanning software, look at the MAF flow as read by the PCM. At idle you would typically see 6 - 10 grams/second. Probably see 240-250 grams/second at WOT above 5,500RPM.

Have you verified the rubber intake elbow is not torn or folded under and not fully on the throttle body? Have you cleaned the MAF sensor?

Do you have links to past threads that will show what you have already checked trying to solve this problem?
