Still need to know about air tubes??
Still need to know about air tubes??
If air tubes are not hooked up, will that affect emissions, or are they more of a visual thing? Will I not pass emissions if my tubes aren't hooked up? I'm not worried about them visually not being there. Your help is appreciated.
Re: Still need to know about air tubes??
As long as it will pass with just plugging the computer into the harness. I know the guy who will perform the inspection and emissions and will let me slide with having my cat not in the factory location and stuff like that. I just want to make sure it'll pass on the emission/computer test though not having the AIR tubes hooked off. I have them blocked off on my headers now. Thanks for the reply shoebox.
Re: Still need to know about air tubes??
Most dyno emissions routines do not check the emissions on cold start. That is the only time the AIR pump makes any difference on the 4th Gens. Even if they tried to check the emissions on cold start, if the cat was already heated up from driving the car to the inspection location, it would pass.
You need to find the specific test routine your state uses for "rolling" emissions - e.g I/M240.

Re: Still need to know about air tubes??
Ok, just to play it safe, I would like to get my tubes hooked up then. Only problem is that my car and tubes are a 97, but my headers were for a 95, so the fittings won't work. What kind of fittings can I get to make this connection? Size, style, location to get them? I did a search and think I understand the 94-95 are a M22 thread or something like that, and a 96-97 is a M18? Is this correct? So would I just have to get a reducer somehow with these threads? Help on this would be greatly appreciated.
