stereo locked

The GM guys charge me to unlock the stereo every time. They never turn the feature off, so every time the battery gets dc for whatever reason, they make more money off of me.

Anyway to unlock it myself? Or once they unlock it, can i set it so the security feature is off?

Thx

That sucks that they charge you, I never got charged. I don't know if there is a way to unlock it without knowing the code.

If you do a search, you will probably find the procedure. It is posted on here from time to time. Once you have it unlocked, follow the steps in your manual to remove the code.

I think thats very low down for them to do that to you. they should at least give you the unlock code. bastards, I hate dealerships, just recently their parts department wanted to charge me $33 for 1 window stabilizer, i bought it online for $4.50. anyway try this

thanx a lot guys, i got the code. The dealer quote listed on the thread does not work, but i was able to find one on the internet. The 5-digit code which did it for me was 06010. Before this a 2 must be entered for Pontiac, and an asterisk after, so when prompted after calling 1-800-537-5140, pontiac guys enter:

206010. The website where i got the dealer code is here:

http://www.google.ca/search?q=cache:...hl=en&ie=UTF-8

The site has been taken down, this is a cached version on google's server. I have saved a copy of it on my harddrive incase it ever disappears. I will post this same message on the other thread too.

Thx again guys
