Steering shaft hitting header
Steering shaft hitting header
The thin metal clip things on the shaft that are rivited to the rag joint, that point upward, rub the second tube, I already bent them inward but there still rubbing. Is there anything else I can do, or do I need to snip the part where it starts to point upward?
For AS&M headers, some teething problems can be encountered. The #1 header tube (the removeable one) can hit the steering shaft at WOT. Cure was to move the steering collar up about 1/3", no more rattling of the steering gear. You will need a pry bar to move the collar up, and a buddy to tighten the collar back down while you are holding the collar in its new position.
Doing this actually moves the entire shaft about an 1/8 of an inch and that should be enough.
Hope this helps

I have the jet hot long tubes, the removable tube(#1) isnt anywhere near the shaft, just the 2nd tube, I cant move the shaft up cus it'll be up more into the tube, think all I have to do is cut those thin pieces off, but not sure if it will have any adverse affects.

I have MAC headers and the steering thing hits alittle... well it did.. I got a metal rubber rag joint and was goin to deal with the hitting problem but the problem fixed when i put the rag joint on.. it moved it alittle more than an 1/8 of an inch over...
