Steam Pipe on heads
Steam Pipe on heads
OK really fast my steam pipe broke in half so I was thinking to get two fittings on the back of each head to eachother so coolant can move from one head to another but im thinkning of removing the one that goes to the TB. My question is do I need to plug anything on the TB or can i just leave it open
Re: Steam Pipe on heads
Not a good thing to do. The purpose of the steam tube is to allow steam and air bubbles to exit the flow from the dead end at the back of the heads. It's not there to allow coolant to flow from one head to the other. Without a way for the coolant to flow out of the back of both heads, and back to the radiator, you are going to run hot on cylinders #7 and #8 and may run into problems with detonation.
The system is in place for a very good reason. I would strongly suggest that you not remove the line from the back of the heads to the TB (which eventually goes to a connection on the radiator with a steam/air separator element).

Re: Steam Pipe on heads
If it broke in half (assuming it broke between the heads) just splice them back in with a piece of heater hose and a clamp after flaring the ends of the tubing.
Either that or convert to 1/4" NPT fittings.

Re: Steam Pipe on heads
There are some ideas in this thread.
If you want to bypass the throttle body with the coolant line, that is perfectly ok and routinely done.
