starting trouble, starts fine, just not the first time
my 95 Z did exactly the same thing until one day it did it DIED at the dealers lot and they ended up changing out the ignition coil and it NEVER missed a beat again. If you haven't already replaced the stocker, it's way easier and cheaper to try than a fuel pump. It's worth a shot.
im beginning to have this same problem, only has trouble on cold start.
also, last night i started it up when it was warm and it was having a bit of trouble keeping idle steady, but after about 15 seconds of idle it went back to normal.
my opti was replace about a year ago professionally (**** rape btw)

UPDATE: yesterday I changed the fuel filter on it. Still got a problem.
It starts a LITTLE sooner, but it still doesn't start right. I've had a lot of people out at our car club listening to it and they're all saying fuel pump. Even though I can hear it working, they're agreeing it's still a fuel problem since my car idles fine and has no running problems.
So if anyone with this problem has changed their fuel pump, please let me know if this helped, cause that's a job that's a PITA!
