Starting Problems

So I have been having some starting issues with my 96 z28. Today I pulled the starter and the housing at the end was broken in half. I reinstalled a new one and went to turn it over and got absolutely nothing. Battery is charged, lights all come on, just no sound at all from the starter...checked all the connections a couple times and everything was tight and making good contact.

Any ideas why I'm getting nothing at all when I try to turn it over?

Re: Starting Problems

Did you replace the starter and solenoid? Did you bench test it before installing?

You can test the starting system in the car. You should have 12V at the "S" (purple wire) terminal on the solenoid when the ignition switch is in the start position.

If you have long leads on your multimeter you can place the meter on the windshield and test it yourself, otherwise you'll need someone to turn the key.

For wiring info see shoebox's site:

Did you connect the starter correctly?
