Question Power Steering Pump Removal help

Today I attempted to remove my power steering pump that has a bad bearing and i couldnt do it. I got the mounting bolts out but I couldnt remove the bolt that connects the pump to the outlet hose. I tried to get a wrench on it and in the process i believe i stripped it a bit. What do i do now??

Take a pic of your predicament. Hard for us to offer a solution without being able to visualize the problem.

If I remember, the wrench size for that line going into the pump is 5/8". Always use flare nut wrenches on line fittings like that. If you have rounded it off, then you will have to disconnect the line at the steering rack. At that point, pull the pump and the line out together.

IIRC one of those fittings (probably the one you mention) has little room to get a wrench on it and swing it. You just have to be resourceful to get it loose.

thats what i did i didnt have any room to loosen the fiting from the pump so i disconnected it from the rack and fished the line through still connected to the pump then took the line off the pump while it was out of the car and put it on the new pump and fished it back under

Did you take the pulley off the pump? I had remove the power steering pump just recently and it makes it a whole lot easier to get that line off if you remove the pulley.

How many bolts hold the pump onto the cylinder head?

Two bolts hold it to the accessory bracket. You get to them through the holes in the pulley.
