Starting problems

I have a 1994 Z28 and it seems to be having a little bit of trouble starting lately. I have to pump the gas while i turn the key and even then it takes about 10-15 seconds to get it started. Even if i try to turn the engine on while it is still hot it has some problems. If the engine is only off for a couple of minutes, then it will start right back up. The thermostat is running right where it should be and the engine runs very smooth once it is started. Does anyone have any clue what might be the problem??? possibly Fuel Pressure Regulator???

PUMP THE GAS? wtf? does nothing to a normal LT1 sounds like a fuel problem the first thing i would look at is when the last time you changed fuel filters. Dont overlook the cheap to fix basics first.

These arent carbed cars, you should not have to pump the gas at all to get one to start. Check the fuel presure on it.

Re: Starting problems

How do I check the fuel pressure? Do I just use a standard PSI gauge? Where do I put the gauge?

Re: Starting problems

On the inlet fuel to the fuel rail there is a valve with a cap. You can hook a guage. Autozone has them for loaner tools, least here anyway. Hook up the guage Start the car let it run for at least a minute look at the pressure. Shut the car off watch the guage. If it dont loose pressure right away let it set and check it ever 2 minutes or so. Let us know the results. The running minimum should be around 30. Resting pressure should not drop off too much in 15 minutes or so, if any at all. If the results look bad, try the same test without the vacumm line hooked to the fuel pressure regulator.
