Re: installing headers

If they are long tubes you have to jack up the engine on the passenger side....

Re: installing headers

If they're longtubes, most likely you will have to jack up the paseenger side to get it in. I was afraid of doing it on mine, but it actually is pretty easy and not that bad.

Re: installing headers

well i havent decided wich would be better for my car, that was gonna be the the next question...the up/downs of short and long tubes

i was leaning to shorts cause i hear they are not as hard to put in as long tubes.

when installing do i have to remove any of the AC?

Re: installing headers

and how far does it have to be jacked up? and what does that require just unbolting it from the mounts and unbolt the trany from mount?

Re: installing headers

When I did my LTs, I didnt have to jack up the driver's side at all, but the passanger side had to be jacked up ~3" or so. I undid both motor mounts and nothing else. Wouldnt be a bad idea to undo the bolt on the trans mount either. As for the a/c, you dont need to touch it at all. It just gets in the way when you're trying to put in the new header bolts sometimes. The hardest part for me was lining the headers up for the header bolts. You WILL need a helper. Also, go longtube if you dont have to deal with that emissions bs. Although it depends on what your plans are with the car. In any case LTs would be great but if you're not getting into cams, heads, etc you would be fine with shorties.
