Starting problem - '97 LT1
Hi, guys,
I've got a '97 LT1 Firebird and started having a strange starting problem yesterday. When I go to start it, nothing happens. Usually, the interior lights are still working and the it dings at me with the key in and door open, but not always. Occasionally, I'll get a click or two out of the starter. The first time this happened, I popped the hood and traced along the wiring to see if I could find an obvious problem but couldn't find any. However, that little jostling of the wiring must have fixed it, because the car fired right up when I tried it again. I noticed that my clock and radio were reset, though, meaning (I assume) they lost power. This has happened three separate times in the last two days, and every time, a little jostling of the wiring *seems* to have fixed it.
Is there anything else this could be besides a wiring problem? I've read through the archives on here and seen a lot of probs with the security system. That type of problem wouldn't reset the clock/radio, though, right? Alternator seems to be working fine, and battery is two months old, 700 or 750cca, IIRC. I'm planning to dig into it tonight, so I appreciate any help you can provide!
Chris

Re: Starting problem - '97 LT1
You know, I got to thinking the same thing and went out in the lot at lunchtime and cleaned 'em with a wire brush - it fired right up. Hope it does the same tonight
. I'll update tomorrow. Thanks!
