Re: starter or VATS?

VATS will flash the security light if and VATS diables the starter so no clicks would ever be heard... Proabaly your starter or the solenoid. If you have headers get some kind of shielding for your starter as it gets pretty toasty with headers..

Open your starter up and file the contacts 2 big and 2 small and the round contact washer, that will do it if the windings in the solenoid aren't open. Better than 500.00 and it's what is done at rebuild shops.
Ya can check it with jumper cables right off the bat without putting it on. Positive to positive and neg to the starter housing and a jumper wire from + to the small post. Make sure ya got a good hold on it when ya jump it or it will torque out of your hands.
