Starter problems(new questions)
I have just spent a hour or so doing searches on starter problems...especialy on the intermittent"clicking" but then starts up "problem"
My car is doing the same thing...intermittent clicking, but then finally will start. I noticed something strange last night while trying to find the culprit to this starter clicking problem. While undernieth the car, i had a buddy try to start the car...the pinnion gear is hitting the flywheel???? in other words, the flywheel and isnt "timed" with the gear tooth in the starter? Now, let me just say that i have just finished rebuilding the engine and before I pulled the engine over a year ago the starter was doing the same thing. At the time I thought it was just the beginning of my starter going out, so naturaly, I bought a new stock starter for newly rebuilt engine.
To the point, Lets eliminate a bad starter, a bad battery and cables...what could the problem be? it cant be a shimming problem either....?????????
Any thing?

If it's just clicking sometimes it is the solenoid or a voltage problem from the bat+ or the little wire is not getting voltage to pull in the solenoid..
Don't make it more complicated than it is as the drive will rotate and align itself.
