Start up problem

I just installed a new fuel pump in my car and everything is running good. But, if the car sits for maybe 2-3 hours I have a little problem. The car will start up fine, but quit after the rpms fall down to idel. Then on the second try it runs fine. I also have a SES light, but that has been going on and off for about a year now. Anyone have any ideas. I know the best route is to scan it, but I have no means to scan it right now. Just thought I would ask first.

OK, I went and checked my pressure. When I hooked up the guage and just turned the key to on, I got about 37psi. I also got the same after start up. I took it for a drive and at full throtle I got a steady 43-44psi, I couldn't really tell. It may have been a bit higher too. It's hard to tell what the guage does at start up since it's only me looking at it. Is there anything that I should look for in particular? Thanks.
This is with the Racetronix fuel pump too.

Start up problem?

Well I had the same problem when I first bought my car but not by fuel ... I unplugged the fan swith and installed a 160 aftermarket system not know this will miss up the car even cause it not to start after the computer adjusts. Took countless hours and no one knew... I finally figured it out and just pluged the old fan switch back in just to fool the computer until I got a programmer.. now all is fine but my stupid security light keeping the car from starting some times... Hope I could be of help... But if you have not unpluged that wire in a past mod then that will not help you...

One last try. I did get a chance to hook up the fuel pressure guage when I had the problem. When I turned the key to on I got 50psi for a second, then it dropped to about 38-39psi. I tried starting the car and the psi came up a bit and the car ran for a second then quit. I tried starting again and it ran fine.

Doesn't sound like a fuel problem unless it is bleeding down rapidly after it is pressurized and you turn the key off. If you have an AutoZone nearby, they will scan it for free. They should not have any problems, since your car is OBD-II.
