Anyone running 236/244 Cam?
Anyone running 236/244 Cam?
This is a comp cam with 112 lsa it is going into my 383.The car is going to be natrally aspirated about 12 1/2 compession.I hope to be able to also drive on the street.Am I in for a wild ride trying to get it tuned or is this cam tameable. What type of tuneing am I going to need to run this big of cam?Thanx in advance
Stick/ported heads I hope.
As for a tune, you may be able to get away with a mail tune (pcmfoless, madwolf) in the short term, but you will definitely want to track down a shop and get a real dyno tune as soon as possible. Just out of curiosity, what's the lift on that cam?

Jkipp84 I have pp LT4 heads and intake,As far as the lift #s I did not recieve the cam yet.I am hoping the cam sounds insane bub bub bub music to my ears could solve world violence in my opiouin
it will sound sick, but i think its gonna be a bitch to drive on the street.for sure a dyno tune. 12.5 compression is gonna be tough to keep running right and out of detonation. the peak power is also gonna be way up, past 7k, which you are limited to revving to.
236/244 112ls is plenty streetable in a 383. I've run the CC XR288, which specs at 236/242 .52/.54 110ls on the street and to me it was very streetable. Had plenty of grunt up to 6500 rpm... and I have no idea how much power the engine made but it ran mid 11's in a m21'ed 3300lb Nova.
I don't personally care much for wide lsa street cams. Sometimes they are a better idea.... good low lift head flow, heavy car, better idle, lower emissions, but if you aren't as concerned with a few of those then the tighter lsa is the better route.
Should idle well and have good street manners with a good tune. With a good head, that cam should be good for 525-550 hp in a 383.
edit:
You don't need that much compression. 11.5:1 is as high as you really need to go.... the power diff 11.5 vs 12.5 is virtually nil. Better margin of safety with a bit lower compression.
