stainless steel tips, painting them flat black??

i found some center inlet stock tips, except they are stainless steel which is shinny. I'm not sure if i want them that way, i was wondering if i can paint stainless steel flat black, or will the paint not stick?? What if i sand it down, is the metal shiny all the way thru??? Thanks, sorry for the dumb question i'm not really up on metals per say..................

Stainless steel is not super shiny unless polished. If you sand through the polishing you should get a more matte look to them. I would prime them before painting them.
