SS brake light question

I installed a late model SS spoiler on my 94 Z28 and got the ABS fault light like many of us found out. Several people sugested installing a resistor to fool the computer. I did that and it worked but the resistor gets hot as hell and it worries me. I installed a 1 watt 10 ohm resistor.

Did this happen to any one else? What did you do about it? What size resistor did you use?

Thanx

Use a relay. It is heavy duty enough to dissipate the heat. Bridge your two leads to 85 and 86 of the relay.

I just put mine on and DID wire it and I got the same problem. It's because the light uses led's and not bulbs. The PCM is looking for a resistance from a bulb filament. A resistor is ok but you'll be droping a lot of voltage and not giving the led's the full 12 volts. The best way to fix it is like Rob said with a relay. The coil of the relay will act like the filament of the bulb when the led is not on.

BTW when I called RK Sports about the problem, they said they never heard of it and no one had the problem in the past
