speedo and tach malfunctioning

Hi everyone, well i'm having a bad stroke of luck with my 2 cars and I just want one to get fixed ASAP so I can have a reliable car. My issue just came about over the weekend with no warning. My battery was dead in the car (haven't started it up in 2 weeks) so I charged it about 1/2 way and put it back in. That day I put it back in, everything seemed fine until I drove off and the tach was racing through the rpms even though I wasn't accelerating hard. It said I was at 5-6k rpm whenI was clearly at about 3k. Also I noticed the speedo was sailing towards the 100mph mark (all in 1st gear!!) I clocked a 7k rpm shift at 120mph shift when in reality it was about 4.5k at 35mph or so. I found the faster the rpm climbed the exponetially faster the speedo climbed. Things seemed to settle out to close to normal in 6th gear at crusing speeds.

I also noticed that the speedo would jerk back and forth during slight variations in speed (1-2mpH) it seemed confused as to what to do. Also, my signals work, but are slow and long in the blinking. I also found that the volt gague was showing the battery being depleted as I drove, which leads me to believe that the alternator is not charging the battery, as the car would not start back up after about 3 hours after the 1st initial ride. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'd like to just know where to start and I'm hoping its not some wiring issue cuz I suck at that. Also my ABS inop. light went on. Same probelems minus ABS light tonight w/fully charged battery. I think it may be alternator or ignition box or something in the instrument cluster. Thanks guys.
