speedo jumps a lil when subs hit., please help
today on my way home from work i got on the highway and was crusin at 70 and listening to my stereo and every time the subs would hit the needle would jump up a few mph then back down when they let off, i gunned it from 75 to pass a truck and the needle hesitated then rapidly jumped to 81 ? has anyone ever seen this before? how can i fix it? i have had subs in my car for a few years and this has never happened. then only other thing i ve done to it after it came out of storage on saturday was install a bigger 800 watt 2 channel amp. is my speedo electrical? could the bigger amp have n e thing to do with it? it also jumps at any speed like from 25-27 every time the subs hit, then i turned off my stereo and it didnt do it. any he;p would be appreciated thanks

Im not sure but the new amp could be drawing too much power. The speedo is electrical. Do your headliughts dim? That is a common problem with big amps.

thanks for all the help guys , i didnt mention to say that i have a 1 farad Rockford fosgate cap, brand new battery ( 2 days old), and new alternator about 2 months old. the headlights really dont dim. how do u move this post to the stereo forum? thanks again guys
i think it might be my alternator ? one of my friends said that the alternators on early 4th gens are pretty weak 80amps (im not sure) can i put a newer style alternator on my car? (110amps)???
check your ground.
my friend had a rockford amp in his old minivan, and everytime the bass hit the tach would jump to like 4k (it couldnt reach 4k without blowing up)
I think he just relocated the ground and it fixed the problem.
