Speed pro forged pistons, any good?

Speed pro forged pistons, any good?

I was looking in the trusty old summit catalog today, and I see that they have a basic rebuild kit for the LT1 for a good price. I noticed they are using speed pro forged and coated pistons in the kit if you go for forged. I was wondering how speed pros stack up to other forged pistons. Most of the guys I know run JE pistons. I'm thinking this might get me started on a build up next summer when I get some money.

Would the speed pro pistons hold up with my heads and cam and a healthy shot of nitrous?

should be pretty decent....

i've been told that it can handle 175-200 shot of the laughing gas

I am putting them in my motor right now. I was told that I could easily run a 200 shot (DP) on them and a 250 if I really wanted to. I hope they hold up. They are a great price and look very nice. I am opening up the ring gap a little for the spray. I say go for it, but I don't have any experience yet (soon though).

I ran them in my last LT1. I was running 11.09 on a 150 shot. Never had a problem. They are a little heavy compared to JE and some others. But I like them. And would use them again.

They have be redesined and improved over their old style which was the old TRW. I put them in my motor and so far very good. I really liked the quality of them for the price.

Cool, it looks like a lot of people are jumping on the deal I saw in summit then. That sounds like the way to go to get a build up done over the summer. Now I need to find a used shortblock

Funny you ask this question. I was looking in Summit yesterday and seen the kit and was going to ask about the kit too. Sounds like this might be the way to go.

It says the kit comes with speed pro rings and bearings. I assume that the rings will be fine, but what about the bearings? Does anyone have any info on them?
