Speed limiter, and any way to change it?

Hey everyone. This is my first post on this board. I've been lurking on the site for a while though. Great site and great people here.

I have a '97 White Z28, which I bought new. The only mod I've done is a K&N CAI. I removed the MAF screen as well.

Anyways, when I bought the car, I ordered it with those crappy Goodyear tires. They were only T rated I believe. (118 mph I think). I think this caused the factory to set the speed limiter to about 118-120 mph. I've hit it a few times now. VERY ANNOYING.

Do any of you know how to remove the speed limitation on my vehicle, besides buying a hypertech programmer?

The tires that I have on there now are Bridgestone Potenza RE730's, which I like much better for handling, but they are louder than h*ll.

Dan
