spark plug wires

Working on a stock 94 other than cat back exhaust. Replacing the opti and water pump and while I was at it thought I would replace the plugs and wires. My question is, what is the recommended size wire. The set I got from the parts store is a 7mm, but the wires that I took off are 8mm. Also, whats everyone running for spark plugs. thanks for your comments

Re: spark plug wires

I'm running MSD superconductor 8.5mm. You have to take off some components and cram the wires into the looms (they don't really fit that way, either), or you can thread the wires around the components and then cram the looms in underneath the already threaded wires. Either way, it's a PITA. I didn't remove a single thing and changed plugs and wires in about 5 hours.

My advice to you? Go with 8mm since they'll fit just perfect, unless you really want the 8.5 for some reason. I did for the looks and because I like going overkill, lol.

I'd use stock AC-Delco wires. I have no issues with the AC-Delco Rapidfire plugs, either.

Re: spark plug wires

I run the 30 dollar Jeg's branded 8mm wires on my Z28 and IROC. I just bought my first set since I installed the Jeg's branded ones on my Z28 back in 04 or 05. The wires are probably fine, but I installed NGK TR55 (non - Platinum tipped) plugs so they are in need of a change so I'm going to do it all.

For 30 bucks (40 with shipping) they have been wonderful.

Although they didn't fit in the stock wire separator so they were kind of a pain to route.

Re: spark plug wires

if its in your budget id use this over the valve cover kit in the link below. in my opinion it looks cool and is 20 times easier to install them. if you have never changed your wires yourself you will know what im talking about.
