spark plug thread repair kit??
Re: spark plug thread repair kit??
I think I may have cross threaded part of my number 1 spark plug hole. I screw it in and then it hits a brick wall and wont move in any more. The angle of it looks to be slightly off from the other plugs that I put in, so it must be cross threaded is what I am thinking. I tried for like 1 hour to get it to go in the right way, but couldnt get it in for nothing. Would a plug chaser help me, or will I have to completely redo the hole. I am thinking if I try and force it in the spark plug will end up snapping and I dont want that. Please someone give me some advice.

NAPA also has a tool that inserts into the plug hole, then you expand it. You then screw it out and it renews the threads from the inside out. Very little chance of any metal getting in the cylinder. The tool might be $50-$70, though. Weighed against the alternatives, the price is not too bad.
I guess all in all it would be better than taking the head off and having to redo the hole...would be a good learning experience, but I think my parents are getting sick of seeing my car on jackstands in their driveway.
Re: spark plug thread repair kit??
well, unless you buy that kit like shoebox said then I would pull the head, because I had alot of shavings in there even though I caught alot on the tap,
also, does anyone know tyhe aswer to my previous question about running open headers
"Well so far it's runnin pretty good, I raced my friends ls1 today, and I had him first and second, but then he started to pull on me very slowly, he has a 98 z28 m6 with an exhaust and 3.73 gears (how do you think I did against him). right now I'm runnin open headers and no o2 sensors, do you think my car will be faster once I hook up the o2's and exhaust.
and connect the exhaust? I would think it would probably sensing false knock too, because these things are loud as hell, it sounds sick when I go wot"
thankyou
