I pull #4,6,and 8 from the bottom with some different style extensions and swivels. As for the #2, I do it from the top with the alternator removed.

I bent a 12 point boxend wrench with a torch to crack one of em loose once. Kind of a Z shape, with the first bend right next to the box. Can't remember which plug, though. Probably #2, since I never pulled the alternator for a plug change.

I find an offset 5/8" wrench to be useful. Have fun with the cap and rotor.

thats one thing im not looking forward to, except im doing an internship at a place that is always working on LT1s (impalas, camaros) that im gonna have help me
plugs took me about 2 1/2 hrs or so and i didnt even bust a knuckle

hardest one was the one right under the alternator
driver side was easy, and the passenger side i got all of them from the top (thank god for small hands and arms)

I use a 5/8 offset and one of those shorty sockets with a 3/4 hex and a closed end wrench to tighten and loosen. To spin them out I use rubber tubing over the ends and maybe a screwdriver in the other end to help twirl it.
