Do you mean 1 or 2 steps hotter? I doubt anyone would want to do that, if that's what you mean.

yeah thats what I ment. I'm getting some oil on my #7 spark plug. I wanna put a step hotter plug in there just for the summer. Then in the fall /winter do a tear down of the motor and rebuild the heads. I think my valve guide has gone bad.

Usually people switch to a colder plug. Even so, I don't think it is going to help the problem that you are having.

Hot plugs will resist fouling, to some extent. But then you increase the risk of detonation.

Wink

I know the promblem will not go away until I fix that valve guide seal. The plug has'nt fouled yet. I'll pull it and clean it at every oil change ( 1,500 for me on regular dino) I just want to make sure that #7 is fireing at full strenght. I think I might just keep it or maybe just put a hotter plug in that one cylinder. Any suggestions on a hotter plug? I'm not to worried about detonation in that one cylinder with a hotter plug, The car runs on the rich side

Guess what, Geezer... The problem didn't go away; I inherited it. Now I'm pulling the intake manifold.
