Is the AC compressor rebuildable?

My AC compressor seems to be working fine, but its leaking a decent amount of oil and splashing all over the place. Very annoying. Anyways, can I replace whatever seal is needed or do I have to buy a new piece?

I may be way off on this but it might get you in the right direction to start. I believe you can get a rebuilt clutch and while you are in there, replace that front seal.

I have the same problem and question. I just don't know if there are any AC mechanics that actually bench rebuild anything anymore. They just get a remanufactured one and send yours off as a core to get rebuilt on an assembly line.

you can replace the clutch but thats about it. i mean you could rebuild it yourself but there is a reason people dont. its just too dificult to find rebuild parts and service info. this is because it has become relatively cheap to buy a reman comressor.

Are you sure your compressor is leaking oil? The power steering lines run adjacent to the AC compressor. You may have a power steering leak that's dripping off the AC compressor housing.
