spark?

my buddy who has an 2000 ss just hooked up his predator tuner to my car and we went to check the air fuel and other things. my car is a 97 so it reads the sensors just fine. my air fuel was fine but my spark was at 39. he said that that is way high. he said that an ls1 should be at 28. i dont know if the lt1 is any different. he that it might be dangerous since i have had my knock sensor adjusted for the 1.6rr. please help!

The timing maps on an LS1 are TOTALLY different than on an LT1. He is correct... the LS1 advance is about 28deg at WOT. The LT1 advance is typically 8-10deg higher at any point in the tables. Its a function of the quench, combustion chamber turbulence, spark plug location, swirl, flame travel rate, etc. The LS1 head design (and the above factors) require less timing advance to hit the "sweet spot" on peak combustion chamber pressure vs. crank rotation. You LT1 sounds "normal".
