Is something wrong with my tranny?
Okay, when I put the car into gear it always makes a loud clunking sound. It doesn't matter if it is drive or reverse. But when I drive it around it shifts great, very firm and immediate. Is there anything wrong with my tranny? Also, when I take corners sometimes I will hear this clunking sound. Sounds like it is coming from the rearend. Could I need to add anything in the rearend?
Could be the clutches inside the trans starting to slip at low rpms. they can do this when they start to get old. If this is your problem soon your firm shifts will deteriorate. Just hope it is a tranny mount. Good luck
Is your car idleing high? That could be the problem. Mine is idleing high at around 1500 and doesn't go down at all when the car is warmed up. When i change gears between drive and reverse, it hard and immediate too. Also about a year ago, my tanny was clunking like yours. I went in and had my spark plugs changed just for a normal tune up. After that the clunking stopped
Maybe this could be your problem
