Something thats not talked about very much.....

Hey everyone,

I'm getting ready to install a new cam and rockers with the headers I just ordered, and got to thinking. What kind of aftermarket valve covers are availiable? I know that you can fit almost anything that you want on the drivers side, but the alternator is in the way on the other. Have any of you used different covers, or am I stuck with what I have?

I have been looking at a set of Summit fabricated aluminum valve covers, All I would have to do would be to break out the grinder, and the TIG welder. I could even polish them up after I'm done. Anyway, What have you guys used to dress your engine up in this department.?

We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert, When the drugs began to take hold.
I grew up in Barstow. I think the drugs have taken hold of the whole f'in town. You gotta be crazy to live there.

On your topic, I think you can just grind off a bit of the alternator. I saw a post on here about doing just that. Don't know how it would work...

Um, My quote is from a movie called Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Johnny Depp, and Benicio Del Toro are the main cast members. You should watch it sometime.

AND.....I never thought about modding the Alternator. I'll have to take a look at it.

Theres a lip on the back of the alternator.. It can be ground off enough to give you room for whatever valve cover you desire , Ya really dont even have to grind that much, thats the cool part

The picture sucks but I have them and they are sweet. Picture looks black but they are highly polished aluminum.

They are only 120.00 from gmpartsdirect. If I could figure out how to post pictures, I would.

You can always relocate the alternator and use any valve cover you want too.
