Someone please help, code P0400??? EGR flow???

I just recently cut the catalytic converters off my car and 3 days later the SES light comes on, so i figure it is the PCM thinking that the rear cats are not workin on my 97. Just to make sure i went and had it scanned and they said it was a P0400 code which means EGR flow or something. HOW can i fix this and IS IT HURTING MY DRIVEABILITY AND PERFORMANCE??? Someone please give me some info, thank you.

It is because of the loss of backpressure from removing the cats. You will need to have the EGR programmed out to keep from getting the trouble code. Don't think it is hurting performance, but not completely sure.

I think what most programmers do, is disable the monitoring of the trouble code. Though the EGR function has some parameters that can be modified to keep it from actually functioning.
