Someone describe nstall process Elecwater Pump

Well I replaced opti with a freinds stock unit he had about a year ago So I am familiar with the waterpump removal/replace procedure... But I have more funds now and its time to get her ready for a little track time this spring and I'm not fawnd of rappin up a well-used opti up close to 6k much more than I have to. .. So any way I have been doin my research and am convinced while I got that waterpump out again I have decided an electric is goin back; since seein nothin but guys gettin an easy extra 10ish true hp for putin an electric pump on... I guess what I am confused about is the wiring and the fitment to the bracket... Any usefull info is highly apperciated!! Thanks

Its your car but I'd leave that old opti in there. New ones have been known to have rotors explode when you get up 6000+rpms. Why waste a new expensive opti?

Wow where was this when I was doing mine today. That pic of the fan shroud will be very helpful tommorow when I finish up. Thanks for the help though. Not to hijack but the part that unbolts from the waterpump on mine did not come off easy at all, and I found no seal on it. Can I just clean it off and install rtv or will it leak. Thanks for the help in advance.

You can probably get away with RTV but the safest bet is to get the o-ring from the dealership and just install it dry.

One key I have not seen listed on install pages is to leave enough wire out of the pump to loop the wire up and tie wrap it to the elec water pump body.

This stops the wire from swinging around and breaking the connection where the wires go into the elec pump.

I am trying to figure out how to get factory fans on a Griffin radiator with an electric water pump...the fans I have now do not pull enough air in traffic.

My heavy duty Mez pump is longer than a standard Mez or CSI/CSR pump. I dont think it will fit at all with the longer heavy duty Mez pump....will have to do some major trimming on the fans to fit a CSI/CSR pump, they look like they are at least 1 1/4 shorter than my HD Mez.

I was wondering, the first website tutorial says to remove the timing cover and plug the hole, but the second one you linked, has no information about this.

Do you really have to take everything off, plug the hole and put it all back?

Only if you want to or if its leaking. Most people leave it there. Its not doing any harm.

I love my pump, it seemed to help the mid engine acceleration big time in my case...yours may vary......Make sure you use a good relay to power the pump......The original one I had installed had failed and the car started to overheat one day on the way home for work pulled over and found it wasn't sending any power to the pump(hot wired the water pump to be on the whole time just to get home)....Got home and used to 30amp relays in parallel circuit to supply power.........Just something I found that could cause some probablems
