Some quickies

Im out working in 30 something degree weather..laying in the mud out back. I think my engine is siezed and Im not having the best day... Heres a few no brainers .. I need some help..

What size it the Harmonic Balancer Bolt? Ive tried different sizes and Im so pissed right now my heads not clear enough to keep guessing.

How can I tell if its a timing gear? Froze Topend? Froze Bottom End? Anything in particular to try?

I just replaced the starter because the old one was fubar. Now I still cant start it. The motor turns (You can see the belt turn about an inch or 2. Then it stops.. and the power all drains inside the car (guages, lights, radio, etc all turn off)

Im going to try cranking it by hand..I have the plugs out just cant find a socket to fit the harmonic. Thanks in advance.

Well from the fading gages statement I would suggest checking your battery (hopefully you did but it never hurts to sugget it). Your local AutoZone or auto store should be able to test it then charge it up. If your car doesn't have enough power to run the accessories it sure as heck won't have enough power to turn the motor over. Check that then get back to the other stuff. If the battery is dead enough, a jump won't even work all the time. I know this from personal experience while installing my LTs. I tried jump starting after the battery had been completely drained, and it wouldn't start. Took the battery and got it charged at Auto Zone and it started right up. Hopefully your problem is as simple as a completely dead battery.

Hmmm ok.....

I had the ignition switch go out in my car, and when that went bad, my engine wouldn't even turn over.

WEll im not sure how long your engine has been sitting, but "hydrolock" refers to water, moisture, or (too much) fuel in the cylinder for the crank to turn over.

If you have the plugs out that eliminates the hydo locked possibility. Good luck.

This may sound pretty dumb but did you try cranking it with all the plugs out. If the motor is froze it will not turn. If it is not, even a very weak battery can turn it over very freely. Plus, you can also easily hear a spun bearing doing it's thing this way also.

Guys..its already been attempted. Maybe i wanst clear enough. I hung my entire body weight from the ratchet and it didnt budge. All the plugs out. Ive changed headgaskets, etc.. not just the easy stuff. (even though headgaskets are easy) Regardless.. shes froze solid. It could have been a rod, or a piston ring, any number of things.. regardless... shes froze solid
