Axle hop and possible damage

Ok, so I was in the rain and had to back up a hill of an exit ramp quicky. I got a bit carried away when I threw in reverse and gave it too much gas/engaged the clutch too rapidly. I experienced some massive, violent axle hop which had the side effect of stalling the car as well (maybe out of panic).
Started and drove away fine but soon realized that I'm feeling an unatural vibration, worse a certain RPM ranges (1,500 in 4th is the worst). I can even feel it at idle with the car in neutral. Think I've damaged something - jacked it up and inspected the exhaust/trans/rear and didn't find anything on the first sweep.
My guess is maybe I bent and exhaust pipe where it twists over the back axle? Could this have damaged the trans? I was discounting the driveshaft or trans because I'm feeling the vibration at idle.
Any ideas let me know.

Does it do the same thing when you push in the clutch and rev it up with the car stopped ???
I would jack it back up and take a really good look at the exhaust front to back
making sure its not touching anything.

Have to take a look tonight if I can get sometime before dark. Noticable sitting at idle where the it will rattle the change in the ashtray and the exhaust seems a little loud(er) then normal. Yeah - it's got to be exhaust related.

Check the tranny mount. Check the torque arm to make sure its not bent and the front bushing is not damaged.

Jacked it up this weekend and gave the exhaust, trans, tourque arm a look-over, didn't notice anything at all. Vibration continues....

Re: Axle hop and possible damage

To detect a broken trans mount, put a bottle jack under the transmission, and see if the tranny lifts off the cross-member when you try to raise the tranny. You can't always see the damage to the mount otherwise.
