It's idle and low RPM's that destroy them.
If ya get the Crower or Isky pressure oiled lifters ya will be OK. Just don't sit and idle all afternoon while talking to someone.

What does the low idle do to the lifters of a solid roller?

They don't get enough oil.

And to reinforce what's been said above, I have had no problems with my solid roller, using the Crower Severe Duty Cutaway lifters. Its been 5 years since the engine was finiished, and for the first couple years it was a daily driver.

That they aren't hydraulic.

I'm not exactly sure what hydraulic means either, but if they're solid.... Does that mean that they do not increase size and decrease stiffness due to oil pressure?

So theoretically.... a hydraulic lifter can retain oil at idle due to oil pressure. However, a solid lifter can only retain oil if the rpm's are up because it cannot create its own oil pressure?

There is no oil in the solid to effect its operation. The only oil is passing through to lube the rocker's. It is solid, made from 1 piece of steel, no internal's at all, it doesn't change adjustments by oil it stays the same all the time.

Re: solid roller and street use

Right, so idling a solid roller is bad because if you're idling and only getting 20psi, the lifters are only seeing 20psi if that.

Re: solid roller and street use

Unless you engine runs a pressure of 40+psi at 800rpm idle.
