so i've got a leak (brake fluid?) *pic*

Noticed a wet spot under my car tonight, looked underneath and saw what looks to be a slow leak of brake fluid (just had rear brakes changed on wednesday).

it's also making a grinding noise when i VERY lightly step on the gas...

Here's a picture. The yellow circle is where I noticed the fluid dripping from.

The hose that the red arrow is pointing too looks pretty worn, too. What are those parts?

Either the front main seal or the opti is leaking. Common on LT1's. It is oil BTW, not brake fluid.

I have heard of some people having this problem and using a "diaper" to absorb the oil since either way it will be a PITA to repair unless you've done this type of work before.

Thanks for the info. I figured it was brake fluid, because it didn't feel or smell like oil.

I'm guessing both of those are expensive fixes

Well, once you get to either it isnt much harder to do the other. If it doesnt leak much and you dont mind you might just want to leave it. I on the other hand really hate leaks (and thankfully I dont have any on this motor I built) so I'd probably fix it. It is up to you. There are plenty of guides on how to do it if you want to look and see for your self.

Either you have another leak or it's coming from somewhere else. Look closely at the photo and you will see the leak coming down from the head area right near the freeze plug. At least one leak is from higher up. Also, if you thought the brake fluid was leaking, have you checked the master cylinder resevoir? Has the "brake" light come on?

I would start by cleaning it all up, then re-evaluate after a short period of time. Even though you might have some other leaks, the shop might have spilled some fluid that worked it's way down there.

If you were leaking brake fluid, I don't think you would have brakes

it looks like it's coming down the side of the block...I would check a valve cover but clean it first to make sure...
