So if I get a 160* stat and dont get my pcm reprogrammed what happens?

Just curious...I may be buying a new stat pretty quick and wont be able to afford a repogram of the pcm, at least it isn't looking likely in the nearing weeks. I doubt I'd do this just wondered what would happen. I'm going to probably wait, get a 160* and get a pcmforless tune in the next couple weeks...thoughts? suggestions?

I did this before my tune, and all I noticed was it lowering temperatures like its supposed to.I dont think there will be anything bad.

friend did it said the same thing, but my question is why do you have to do it if it works without the tune?

nothing bad happens. a tune with a 160 stat can let you advance ignition timing a degree or two and programs the fans to come on earlier.

you wont get the full benefit of the cooler system...but it will be ok. the fans are factory programmed at i think 235 or so.

As I said before, you don't have to get a reprogram.

I put in a 160 without a program(HPP didn't work when I got it). If you drive in alot of stop and go traffic you will notice the temp go up and down alot. If you mainly do highway driving you probably will not notice anything except for your temp being lower.
