so.... I think my lt1 just.... (kinda long)

I have a 149,XXX mile 95 m6 Z28 all stock except for PS longtube headers and UMI LCAs. So I went to the track yesterday,(30mile drive)and I got my best time so far, a 14.85 @ 93mph. On the last run, before taking off, I tried to rev it up to about ~3k rpm and it almost felt like engine died for a second and then picked up again, so I launched and it felt REALLY slow, I was almost at the finish line and the car died. I started it using the clutch and limped the car to the parking lot.
Oil press. was really low, "check gauges" light would go on after a while unless I reved it up a little. Oil looked OK but with some metal shavings, and no unusual noises. I was told by this guy that it was ok to drive it on the highway since oil press. was around 10-15psi while driving. About 10 miles away from my house, my oil press. goes to 0psi and I hear a knocking sound so I shut off the engine and pull over, leave the car on the side of the highway and my friend took me home. Today, I had the car towed to my house and I checked the oil and it is very black with metal shavings in it.

Is my engine a worthless piece of metal now?

why would the car shut off like it did?

Thanks in advance.

Spun a rod bearing,or two or more, most likely.

Why would a stock internal LT1 take a **** though? Do you know if you or the previous owners really really mistreated it?

Oh and also, I wonder if the car was healthy before? What altitude are you at? 14.85@93mph is bad driving, high altitude, or an unhealthy car
I have taken this car to the track about 4 times with 4-6 runs each time, yesterday only 3 runs. the car is well maintained. I guess it was just its time to go.

The track is at ~4600 feet, my 60' time was 2.3 with almost bald dunlop tires.

I would like to add that my friend took his 97 z28 m6 also, and he ran a 14.7xx @ 95mph with a 2.2x 60'

Yes... it would also make the car have very little to no oil pressure at idle and only 10-15ish while reving/driving. I would go find the person who told you it was okay to drive the car with only 10-15psi oil pressure and kick him in the nuts, or punch her in the tit.

when I start mine, cold idle, oil pressure is somewhat normal at 40ish psi,I just took one of my valve covers off and started it and I see what I think is exhaust smoke coming out from where the pushrods go in. don't see any smoke from the headers.

I've been running open headers ever since I installed them about two weeks ago, don't know if that has anything to do with it, but just thought i'd throw that in.

Oh and about the guy that told me it was OK to drive 30 miles with 15psi oil press, YES, I WANT TO KICK HIM IN THE ***** RIGHT NOW!
