So I changed my Plug Wires.

This is more of a rant, but I figured everybody who comes here would appreciate it more than the clowns in the lounge.

For starters, I got the job done.

It took 5 1/2 hours but it's done. That's me and a buddy working on it!

Holy crap for crap! It sure sucked donkey ****!

1,3 and 5 were easy enough.

7 was totally ridiculous. We managed to route the wire through the stock piece of metal that holds it away from the manifold..........at least I think so - there's no way to know for sure other than my car runs. It's completely invisible.

The entire passenger side I managed to get from the top. Extremely difficult.
We took out every piece of the stock wire looms and ran the wires right where they used to be using ty wraps to keep them in place. I can't believe how they are routed so close to the AC pulley!!! Fawk.

I'm a bit scared that 7 could be slowly burning through since I can't see it.
I put in MSD 8.5's, although I read that they are maybe not the best.

Comments/suggestions/opinions are welcomed.

I did mine this weekend, and reused hte factory looms w/ 8mm taylor wires, that loom behind the steering pump is probably the biggest pita alive.

Custom cut wires and otvc looms make it way easier than trying to put wires back in the stock retainers/locations. 5 hours is not that unbelievable for his case, but I'm with you as my custom cut wires went way easier and took far less time.

I'd say it took my about 2 hours just to get my 8mm through the passengers side p.s. pump. I was using stock looms because I didnt want them touching straight metal tho.

Hrm..........I wonder if I could have problems now.........since I took out the stock looms.

The 8.5mm wire wouldn't fit in them anyhow but.....now the wires are tight against the metal.

How long could I expect the wires to burn through if too close to an exhaust manifold?
How long do you think it would take to wear through due to vibration?
