so how do you install a cam

well, since you have all that off the only other big thing to take off would be the intake.

Are you kidding? How's he supposed to learn? Sounds like he's compotent to me.

Just pull the intake, valve covers and rockers. Then changing the springs, pull the radiator, and move the condensor aside. Take off the hood latch, pull the timing set and remove the cam.

Reverse the process to install.

That is very negative and a pesimistic attitude. You have to start somewhere, sometime.

But yeah, intake sounds like the only thing left. Also, I thought I remember reading about having to take the lifter guides, and lifters out to install the cam, but that does not sound right, anyone know forsure?

Put a new timing chain on there at least. The stock one is junk IMO. I'm surprised my chain was still on there.

definaltely go for it, if you can do the repairs you mentioned above then you cab pull off the cam swap. either get a good manual or stay close to your computer and utilize shoebox's site.

Re: so how do you install a cam

shoebox's site is the sh&t. helped me out alot on my cam swap about a year ago. also there is a good book on ebay. "How to Rebuild Small-Block Chevy LT-1/LT-4 Engines". it helps with reinstalling everything to its trq settings. the only hard part for me on mine was the push rods, but they were the crapy comp Rs. everything else is a cake walk. but anyways good luck if your going to do it.

Re: so how do you install a cam

Yep, the cam will come out in the front, but barely. As previously mentioned, the radiator and ac condensor have to be removed or moved out of the way.
I decided to ditch my ac, only used it a few times anyway.

The most important thing is choosing the right cam, and compatible valve train hardware, especially valve springs.
