I get new Pacesetter LTs installed. Fire the car up afterward and my oil pressure is pegged. Weird, but just assumed it was a burnt wire or something, take care of it later. Drove the car for a couple days and notice smoke coming out from under the car. Look underneath and the car is literally peeing oil between the front 2 wheels, its getting on the header and burning.

What would the oil pressure being pegged and this leak have in common? Is there a line that runs down there, sending unit? ****ttt

 

First of all you need to tell us what year the car is. Not all years have the o/p sensor in the same place.

Second, you probably did not connect the oil pressure sensor. That will cause the gauge to peg.

Third, could be you damaged the o/p sensor and it is leaking.

 

its a '94 A4. Sorry, I forgot I didn't have a signature on this site. So the sensor can leak mass amounts? It seems to be leaking somewhere around the oil filter or in that vicinity, definitely out of the back. Never had leak issues before, and it was just pouring out, like a steady stream.

 

Early 94s can have the sensor by the oil filter. Yours was probably damaged during the header install. Common occurrence.

The manifold leaking would not be under pressure.

 

Check your oil filter too. Make sure you didn't leave the old gasket in there when you reinstalled or installed a new one.

 

It was the oil pressure sensor. I have an early '94 so it is in the block, right above the oil filter. It was cracked in half from putting the headers on, it appears.

I screwed the new one in, but didn't have enough room to plug the harness on the back with the headers there...it would literally be touching and either break or melt; so let me ask you this: Is there a smaller aftermarket oil pressure sensor or any way I can get around this and have my gauge work again?

 

You can use a right angle fitting to make the sensor hug the block a little more.
