Sneaky Squeak
Rear End Squeak
For you guys that have squeaks coming from the rear of your cars and could never find them you might wanna check the surface where the ends of your brake pads sit in the calipers.
Every time I would go over a bump I had a high pitched squeak. So I greased up LCA's, PHR, Spring mounts, Shock mounts, Exhaust brackets, and still no dice. I finally found the squeak yesterday after a 3 month search.
What happened was when I went over a bump the axle would slide about a MM or 2 and so would the hub and disc. As the disc would move it would shift the pads while the caliper would stay stationary causing the squeak. So I put a thin layer of grease where it met with the aluminum bracket and no more squeaks.
Just thought you guys would like to know

Re: Sneaky Squeak
excellent info Nick, thanks for posting. You might want to change your post title to something more accurately descriptive of the problem though, so the search function will identify it for what people will be looking for it under, i.e. "rear end squeak" or "squeak from back of car". This kind of info will be a great help to others on the board if they can find it when they search for it right?
Re: Sneaky Squeak
This has been something that's been driving me crazy for quite some time now. I hit a sharp speedbump going into and leaving work every day and it always squeaks loudly from the rear end, especially the right side, when the rear tires hit the bump. I've searched high and low, but can't seem to find the cause. I've done everything in your list and more (LCA's, PHR, bar above the PHR, exhaust mounts, sway bar mounts and end links, spare tire, rear seat latches, hatch latch, hatch stops, shock mounts, springs, etc.) with no change at all in the noise. I finally realized that if I'm braking while hitting the speed bump, I get no noise at all, regardless of the speed I'm going. I greased every surface (except the meat of the pads) I could think of in the brakes, but still no change. But maybe...hopefully... I'm missing something.
So exactly what did you lube up to stop your squeak? The top of the pads, with the springs and the little metal 'H' parts that those slide on?
