smog pump removal

hi, i cant get my smog pump hose out of the left header on my old engine/ headers and i read somewere that you dont need the smog pump and can just block it off. i was wondering what i could use to block off the holes on my new hbeaders. they came with these screw things that u can screw into the hole were it goes but it is a straight threw srcew type of thing it has a holer going through it if it is some kind of adapter. thanks for any help or advise. P.S. i live in NH and there is no emissions testing here so my cat is hollowed out so it looks like theres a cat but there is nothing in it. and im taking off the smog pump cause i see no need for it and i cant get the bolt out of the old headers that hold it on so i said screw it.

Different headers have different designs for the AIR connections. You might want to mention the specific brand and style of headers, so someone who has that setup can comment. The stock single-cat manifolds and some brands of headers can be plugged with an M22 oil drain plug. But not all headers. Some have male threads and require adapters.

Then you need a pair of M22-1.5 oil drain plugs. Buy the copper gaskets for them, to get a better seal. This site has them, part #1016.

They are also used in the Dodge Cummins diesels, so your local Dodge dealer will have them, although at a rather high price. I've seen them at some auto parts stores.

Exhaust temperatures can exceed 1,000*F. How would you plug the hole with teflon?

I bought my plugs at Auto Zone. I believe about $7 each.
