The old rotary RX7s are pretty popular for LT1/LS1 conversions. Check out the hybird forum on LS1tech.com, there are several of them over there.

Miata, RX7, or Nissan 240. All very light platforms. I personally would go Nissan, cause ford owns Mazda.....

Plus there companies already that do the bracket kits to mount LS7's in 240's.

The rx7 is a popular choice, if I remember right it's very light too. I know some guys around here do that engine swap.

Now thatd be a cool swap, though the engine would end up someplace weird like the passenger seat or something.

AMC Pacer...the combination they SHOULD have built.

70's Monza with the roadracing bodywork, or a black/gold Vega with the Twin Cam decals.

Stacey (whatever his last name is), the old host from the TRUCKS show, now has a new show on SPIKETV and last weekend was installing I believe a Ford 302 into a Miata (which is a rearwheel drive, full frame car...believe it or not) and made the comment during the show that he is using a kit from this place: http://www.monstermiata.com/ If someone is looking for a cheap, lightweight, plentiful car, this would be a good consideration...although it would be hard for me to get past the foreign car thing, but that's just me.

Not so easy to come by today but worth considering...Vega, Pinto, Chevette, Gremlin, I guess I'm dating myself so I'll stop!
