Sluggish While Driving, Fine under idle
Sluggish While Driving, Fine under idle
Here is the problem, All of a sudden the car started acting like it was not firing on all cylinders. So i checked the plugs and they needed changed, also there was one wire that was burned so i changed all the plugs & all the wires. Drove the car one time and it was fine. Well in the meantime the car was about 10lb FP too high, so i was getting everything ready to convert the fuel system to parallel anyway so i figured I would do that b4 i drove the car again since i didnt want to foul any of the new plugs. So i did the fuel system got the FP down to normal. Drove the car & now it acts like it did B4 like its not firing on 8 cylinders. Under idle sitting there it sounds fine. it doesnt sound like its misfiring at all but as soon as you put it in gear you can tell it isnt right. Theres no power at all. I swapped out another coil. Didn't help. Unplugged the MSD ignition box plugged back in the stock ignition. Didn't help. There are no codes, engine light isnt on. Ive checked all the vaccum lines. I dont know where to go next. The oil level light came on once but the oil isnt low. Any help would be appreciated
Could be the opti. Does it maintain good fuel pressure all the way to redline? Could be intake or exhaust restriction. Do you have any leaks anywhere that could cause issues? The elbow for the intake could be loose or torn.
OK. Is it possible for the opti to be bad and it not throw a code. Thats what frustrating me there are no codes at all. When you talk about leaks are you talking about vaccum leaks. Fuel pressure seems fine but i cant get it to redline. I can feel it running bad before i even get out of the driveway. I can tell by my *** in the seat. Would the egr valve cause something like this
I think the opti can be bad and not throw a code. Leaks could be anywhere. The plastic elbow if you still have it could have a hole or not be on right and cause unmetered air to enter the intake. This will really mess up your performance. Putting the plug wires on the wrong way will make the engine run bad. The car can have codes stored and not have a check engine light on.
Ok. Tomorrow I guess ill reset the pcm & see what happens. I dont have the plastic elbow the wires are on correctly. Ive checked & rechecked them. I guess ill go through the process of checking the opti. I would like to know if it can be bad without a code showing., I appreciate all your responses mrmint69
Well I started to go throught he process of checking the opti connections, the harness check out good, when i pulled the connector on the opti it shows blue/green corrosion inside. Im going to try and get that cleaned up and try the car again
