SLP TOTL vs. Hooker catback
SLP TOTL vs. Hooker catback
I would like to know which exhaust system is best between the SLP TOTL and the Hooker. Also, which one of the two is the loudest at idle, and full throttle on an otherwise stock LT1 car. How does the two compare to each other in sound and flowing wise. What kind of sound does each one have?
I love my SLP 2OTL system, I can't imagine having anything else. It might cost more than the Hooker, but it's fully stainless steel and the quality is excellent. I've heard the Hooker isn't always super easy to install, but the SLP's consistent quality makes it a breeze to install.
If you drive your car all year round, or even just drive it in a lot of rain, it's worth the extra $$$ for a stainless steel catback, and the 2OTL is probably one of the lowest priced ones (even more impressive since it's quality is so good)
And out of all the exhaust systems I've ever heard on an LT1, nothing beats the sound of the 2OTL, especially at WOT, IMHO of course.

I had the Hooker on my 95 Formula and loved it. I had it on the car for about 4 years when I sold it, and the cat back was still in great shape. It's slightly louder than stock when idling or at low rpm, but when you get on it it really wakes up.
I have heard both and the hooker imo is a little bit louder. I like the way it sounds a little bit more too. The TOTL is a nice system and it sounds good also. But i just don't like the look of a muscle car without the look of dual exhaust. Imo it just doesn't look right.
I installed my Hooker system in my parent's garage using only basic handtools. There was no need to tweak any of the pipes to fit and the entire project took only 2.5 hrs (including the removal of the stock exhaust). The car sounds a lot better and there was a real SOTP difference in the upper RPM range.
I've got a boatload of them at the bottom of this page. http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/b/...ideoclips.html
IMO those don't even do it justice though because it was just a digital still camera, not even a video camera with a good mic to pick up all the lows.

I've heard both and they both sound good. The LSP TOTL is a very aggressive sound on a stock car. The Hooker I heard was on a car with headers so it's tough to make a direct comparison. If you like the TOTL look, then grab the SLP TOTL, it flow awesome and sounds great. Most people don't like that look though.
