SLP SHORTY HEADER problem

SLP SHORTY HEADER problem
Help! My SLP headers keep on burning up heater hose lines... I've tried coating the hoses with that heat temp stuff, zip tying them out of the way.... nothing seems to work...... 20 min's of driving and coolant everywhere.... HELP!
Also, I can't seem to get rid of this annoying exhast leak... it's almost like a ticking noise... I've yanked the headers a few times and replaced the gaskets etc... this last time, I put some RTV sealant on the gaskets also which helped some, but it still ticks... I don't dare tighten the bolts anymore than they are because it appears that I'm starting to strip the threads on the heads.

Check your EGR pipe that was were my headers leaked. Have you tried to rig up some kind of metal sheild to block the heat. I know there is not much room but just an idea. Wrap the lines and then put up another sheet of metal or wrap them a couple of times

what year is your car?
I just went to look at mine, and with single cat SLP shorties my heater hose is about 2-3 inches away from the header, and it has the stock fire sleeving on it so its not anywhere close to burning up...iis your significantly closer than that? Mine are uncoated too...

You have a 97 and I assume you have the dual cat headers for 97 shown here You say you coated the hoses with heat temp stuff? I think you really want to use some of the heat wrap material they show in the pic to wrap them with, I don't think spraying anything on rubber hoses is going to help.

I run the same headers with no heat shield and have not had any problems.
