Not really a z28 question but you guys that know manual trannies can probably help me out.

Heres the deal, my retard roomate took my other roomates car out for a spin while he was outta town. Its a 323ci BMW 1999 5 speed. I dont know what the f he did to it, but he comes back and now it wont slip into gear when the engine is on. With the clutch pushed in the gears work fine when the car is off tho. Right now it wont go into any gear with the engine running and clutch all the way in. The car also kinda smells like burning rubber/metal. Not sure what the problem is, tranny/clutch or what, any suggestions of what it is, or any way to maybe get it working? Anythings appreciated, someones gonna get their *** beat lol.

he blew the clutch. simple enough. even with a good clutch, you can still put the car in any gear without the clutch being engaged. thats how i learned the stick when i first started dfiving. anywho, if the shifter goes into gear without the car on, and wont with the car on, you have a blown clutch. if it wont go into gear even with the car off, the tranny is bad.
