SLP Shortie Header owners
I'm buying Taylor Spiro's to install when I do my header install. I'm having a hard time deciding whether to get the stock routing wires or the OVC routing ones. Which is best for the SLP dual cat shorty?

I've done it both ways, and prefer the OVC setup with the SLP headers on my '97. The OVC setup holds the wires firmly in place, so I haven't burned one wire yet. But I might not be the best example, since I only put 900 miles on my bird this year.

I just have the stock wires on my 97SS w/dual-cats.
Did get heater hose burned, but have since put some space between header and hose.
Haven't had any trouble yet with plug wires. Just make sure that they have some space and fire sleeves where needed.JMHO
OH...and my headers are coated.

I burnt a couple wires after installing the SLP shorties, but a little heat sleeving took care of that problem. But if you have the means to do OVC wires, do it. I have seen a TA with that burnt the passenger side of the engine compartment due to a fire caused by the wires touching the headers. Good luck.

I have SLP's and Taylor's. I ran them the same as where the stock ones were. Only burned 1 wire but that was my fault. I just wasn't paying attention. Stay with the stock routing, it'll be good.

The thing that sucks about stock location is that the wire loom behind the power steering steel hose is hecka space limited. My Taylor wires barely fit and I had to start from the top wire loom position and wedge my way front top to bottom. Dont start from the bottom of the loom.
Oh and another thing..I learned the hard way, if using stock route....leave that loom in place that's behind the power steering steel hose because if you take it out then your wires will be be loose & touch the steering pulley & possibly get caught in the serpentine belt. Even if you do keep the loom in there, zip tie it just in case. I had to spend alot of time zip tieing the heck out my wires and wedge it back form the pulley. Man I should of left that thing in. I wish I just went with OVC's but I couldnt figure out how to route them so I just stuck with stock location. One of these times I'll do the OVC.
